MSL 114 - How I've Come Into Being My Natural Self

Being your natural self will become your secret weapon in the Age of AI. It will also allow you to further distinguish yourself in an ever-changing competitive marketplace, whether among other solopreneurs or small businesses attempting to capture your audience and clients. Today I’ll share how I’ve evolved my natural self, and how I (frankly) don’t give a d&!$m, Scarlet, what others think as I’m out to do good and inspire others to have real, authentic fun in their business being themselves.

As businesses and competitors deploy more and more AI to their workflows and sales processes, the more people will crave human interaction, realness, and true authenticity that comes from your unique personality. But here’s the catch—you have to have real love of self and confidence to be yourself to make this really work.

Don’t do it as if it’s a tactic or manipulation—if you bring more of your true self and personality to the forefront, the more you will stand out for your uniqueness and the right people will fall in love with you and your thought leadership will soar.

Prompt

Take a look at your social media and really give yourself a good assessment or ask someone who knows you really well, like your BFF, or a, you know, a spouse, someone who's very close to you, who knows your personality, and you feel very natural being yourself with. Have them look at some of your posts or the content that you're putting out there.

Have them read what you've been posting and then ask them, “Do you feel that's being authentically me? Is there a way I can infuse more of my personality or style or authentic vulnerability into the content I'm putting there? Would it be helpful or does it sound like every other solopreneur out there trying to hawk the same types of services or products that I am?”

Then, sit down and either write or record on video and incredibly vulnerable, authentic—just bear your soul to your ideal audience. Do it in the context of what your ideal client is frustrated with, and relate that story to something you've been frustrated with and just pour your heart out. You're not gonna do anything with this other than record it or write it, and then just stick it away for a day, then come back and watch it or read it.

Make notes on what you liked and where you could be more your natural self. Set aside self-criticisms such as “Oh, I said ‘um’ too much,” or “Oh my hair looks bad,” as those won’t serve you.
