103: My “Job” Journey

I’ve had a lot of different roles over the years at a variety of businesses and corporations. Each taught me something new that filled my skill toolbox, but what the best takeaway I ever got from any job was how to manage my relationships with people.

Episode prompt

Reflect over your past jobs, projects, and teams you’ve led or worked with. What was good about them? What did you learn about yourself? How did your interpersonal skills improve? How did you learn to navigate politics and bureaucracy and hierarchy? What opinions did you formulate that are still with you today? What prejudices did you form based on how you were treated? What missed opportunities did you discover and are you holding any resentments?

These are great prompts to assess who you are today as a professional solopreneur or soon-to-be one. The work we’ve done in the past shapes who we are in our work today as well as what we attract in business relationships, how we deliver value, and even how we get paid. Take some time to appreciate your “job” journey and what it’s given you that’s made you more confident and successful today. Share below in a comment.
